The 7 members of the club and a guest visited the Morris Island Conservation area today. Beautiful calm waters and great weather made for a wonderful day. Just east of Arnprior Ontario the area was packed with people getting out after weeks of confinement and great weather.

Thank you to everyone who took part. Here's looking forward to a great 2020 kayaking season. The Chesterville Kayak Club was recently featured in the lastest Explore magazine put out by the township of North Dundas.
The final meeting of 2019 was held on November 10th. A pot luck supper was held along with a short meeting to review the year.
Next official club meeting will be March 10th, 2020. Kim will keep everyone up to date on winter events happening! Everyone at the meeting wishes Shannon a Merry Christmas in her new home. A good time was had by all at the annual Christmas party held on November 30th. Special thanks to everyone that organized and helped with the setup of the party.
A wonderful Fall day was spent on the Rivière Rouge in Quebec. You never know what the weather will be like in the Fall but with temperatures hanging around 12c and a clear day forecast 6 members headed out for a paddle. If you’ve paddle the Rouge before you know that there’s a bit of a current so heading off into the current we paddled upstream at a casual pace until we reached a sandy beach next to a set of small rapids. After a leisurely lunch we enjoyed the sunshine and then started back. What took about two hours of paddling against the current turned into a quick one hour return paddle.
Six members of the kayak club, Mike, Lucien, Kim, Bonnie, Donna, and Miles visited a new launch north of Casselman on the South Nation River. What looked like it could be a cool day turned into an excellent day for kayaking. Sunny with little wind we paddled on. Today’s paddle was at an easy pace about 11.5 km and 3 hours long. This spot would be even better in a few days or weeks when more of the surrounding trees have changed to their fall colours.
After a great long weekend last year it was decided to stay at Palmerston Lake for eight days this year. This years participants were Kim, Lucien, Bonnie, Lenny, Irene, Mike, and Miles. The cottage at Palmerston lake is surrounded by 153 lakes all within a short drive. Day were spent kayaking on Palmerston Lake, Crotch Lake, Brule Lake, Mosque Lake, and Canonto Lake. There was plenty of great food and games of Pictionary, Phase 10, Uno, and Dominoes played with Miles getting the luck of the week. Don't miss out on the fun next year as a week long trip will be planned for September 5 to 13, 2020
A long weekend trip took place to visit Lock 21 in Peterborough, Ontario. Lock 21 is the highest lift lock in the world. Click here to read about Lock 21
