South Nation River
The South Nation River begins in marshes north of Brockville, Ontario and flows 175 km to empty into the Ottawa River. It offers a great paddling experience by canoe or kayak. There is something for everyone. Exiting the marsh, it travels through a mix of forest and rural farmland, passing through the villages of Spencerville, South Mountain, Chesterville, Crysler, St.Albert, Casselman and Plantagenet. Check it out paddlers. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
The South Nation Conservation Authority has mapped the river into five separate day trips. Enjoy SNC day use parks and make use of the amenities of the many small villages along the way. Members of the Chesterville Kayak Club have paddled all five sections of the river (Great Blue Heron, Kingfisher, Mallard Way, Mill Run and Swallows Path).
