January News

The members social and pot luck supper, held on Tuesday the 11th of January was a complete success. Members wined and dined till their hearts (and stomachs) were content, on their own delicious home cooked meals. As usual there was more than enough. A special thank you goes out to Lynda Lafontaine for organizing the event, and to Brenda and Bob Fraser for extending the hospitality of their home in hosting this event.

Summer Events

Aug.20-22 at Ron Parker's family Cottage on Lac Laurel, Que.

We were camped out in tents for the weekend & shared the facilities of the cottage for eating etc.
We had a wonderful outing kayaking on Lac Des Seize Iles. The misty rain didn’t stop true spirited Kayakers.
On the Sunday Ron took us for a calm & scenic tour on Lac Laurel.
We finished off the trip with another meal & more fun & of course laughter.

Thanks again Ron for hosting us & showing us part of your world. It was a great experience!

Next Outing was headed up by Elaine & Chris on the South Nation River leaving from Crysler traveling west. At the halfway point, Chris graciously allowed us the use of her home for a short rest. Then we were on our way back to our starting point. Of course it wouldn’t be a true outing without food & fun…. so we went to the Restaurant /bar in Crysler to spend more time eating & laughing together.

We thank Chris & Elaine for planning this event & it was really enjoyable & fun.

Oak Island Lodge in the Hardwood Islands, Lake Nipissing. Sept. 10-12  Early Fri. morning Pat, Murray, Ron, Lenny & Bonnie left for a 6 hour ride to Oak Island Lodge located on the West end of Lake Nipissing. We were met by the owner who took our food & gear to the island by motor boat as we paddled to the island.

We stayed in one of the lodges looking over the lake.

Sat. morning we were able to go out on the lake for a full day paddle. “What an experience”. The waves were high & so was our excitement. We had a picnic on an island & then leisurely paddled quietly around the area, while some attempted to catch us our supper! We must ask Murray about the one that got away!

In the evenings we had enjoyable times around the campfire.

We also gave a donation towards Kayaking for Cancer and the owners of the lodge made a contribution as well.

A big thank you to Pat for planning this event. It was a wonderful & unforgettable experience.

South Nation River from Casselman:

Sept.19 - On a beautiful sunny afternoon, Elaine, Andre, Tammy, Martine, Lenny, Brenda, Bob, Karen & Bonnie all had another peaceful experience with nature. The echo of our laughter filled the river as we had a wonderful paddle.

Andre gave us a little history on the landslide that took place & how different it looks now.

At halfway we rafted our kayaks and drifted with the current…. And did what we do best….eat & laugh.

On the way back pranks were played & we had a good laugh about that. Remember Andre “Keep your eyes open”!!

After returning to our cars….some of us had to eat again & went to Brian’s for supper.

What a great day! Thanks to Elaine, André & Martine for keeping us all straight & organized!
